We have a new Job to fill:  Yard Person wanted

Job Description: This is a new role requiring a good all rounder, with a pleasant, can-do attitude will work across several aspects of our delivery/farm business. This person will ensure smooth function of day to day business activity.

Hours: 8am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday (including Bank Holidays) with lunch break.
Salary: £15K initially
Holidays: 28 days.
Contract: To start March. Six months initially, potential for long term.

Roles will include, but are not limited to:

Runs to/from the garage with vans for repair/ service.
Occasional roadside wheel repairs to vehicles.
Carrying out bulb / wheel replacements as advised by drivers mid week.
Overseeing /checking deliveries and collections from to Acorn Dairy.
Site security & police liaison through the day.
Checking, filing and reprinting as required- fuel and van sheets. Monitoring fuel gauges.
Booking in vehicles for routine fridge/ engine services.
Occasional collections/ deliveries as advised by the office team across the north.
Provide short notice cover on the processing team.
Maintaining locks/ paintwork across the site.
Gritting relevant areas as weather requires.
Through the season- keeping on top of village grass cutting requirements.

Ideal attributes of applicants:
Have good basic mental maths.
Show good basic competence and knowledge of basic machine and vehicle maintenance.
Be able to manage their time effectively.
Be able to carry reasonable weights in different environments- training will be provided.
Happy to work outside.
Be personable, presentable & professional with colleagues & customers.
Have an eye for detail and accuracy.
Have a good geographical knowledge of the north.
Be reliable.
Non smoker.
Hold clean driving licence and own a vehicle.
